Crowns

Dental crowns, also known as caps, are restorations that encompass the entire tooth to repair damaged, fractured or decayed teeth. Crowns are an ideal way to restore the strength, shape, size and help the overall appearance of any tooth. The repair of the tooth requires it to be filed down, removing the outer layer of the tooth all the way around to serve as a post to cement a crown to. An impression is then made of the tooth and surrounding teeth to send to the lab for the creation of the permanent crown, allowing for the best esthetics and matching to the other teeth. The patient will leave with a temporary crown until the permanent crown returns.

Crowns can be made of different materials, but the most used in our office is porcelain fused to metal or porcelain/ceramic.
